Hey sjaz, seriously mate don't do it! You may lose all your data or even destroy the server hardware. Last time I tried I burned my floppy.

Stay clear of MySQL, it's evil!

Wrong.

VERY good admins MAY be able to update MySQL without TOTALLY destroying the server.
That's the truth.... Sad but true!

How is it wrong?

Thats B$. A good admin doesnt lose all their data. a bad admin does. A very good admin is just a good admin who can multitask.

Its not my problem your friend cant update mysql without losing all of their data. A "half good" admin would have backed up /var/db/mysql before starting the adventure. But of course Im wrong.

There one way to solve that problem:
be always drunk as I am 1 week now! Then you have no problem!

Yes it is, but it's also the only thread in these forums at the last days, so I don't think there is some kind of problem! Also it's better to be big so that users will be bored to read it!
Be ready for more posts, it is getting better and better.

Domains are finally transfered to the new server, have a look at www.dvd-guides.com

Do the sub-domains take more time to be changed throught the net? I ask this because ftp.dvd-guides.com connects me to the old server!!

Now that almost everything is finished I want to thank Denis and sjaz for all the help, without you guys it would be much more difficult!
