FreeBSD server slowness

Postby Exodus » Sun Dec 26, 2004 8:38 am

hey guys i've a question refering to the FreeBSD host server
the problem is that the server is very slow when it comes to responding for any kind of requests...
is it permanently problem? or maybe this is it since
there are many accounts taking cared by this particular server and there is nothing to do about it
if so is there a chance to move the account to a faster server of yours which uses one of the other distro's ?
lets say Alpha ?
(i hope i aint asking for too much )

in any case i just would like to say that PolarHome hosting service is GREAT!, it offers many awsome features one of the best hosts i ever had
and belive me i've googled enough... i know whats out there.
keep up the good work.

FreeBSD is generally very slow nowdays.
it used to be [imo] the best server on polarhome, but then it got over-populated with people who run very demanding stuff, and the hardware just can't take it.
so basicly, there's nothing to 'fix'..

and if you wanna move your acct, just download the files and upload them somewhere else, easy as that.
[even easier if you have shell access, you can tar them and ftp across the local network]

FreeBSD simply needs better hardware.
This slowness came with 5.x versions :(

BTW I am not from Israel but I wish...
