I am sorry for the long delay, but I was very busy... and it is still not over.
Hope those changes will help.
Regards,

Thanks... help is always welcome.
Please, keep eye on the things around because I will be off site for one week from now.
BTW Hurd and Minix are down if somebody asks.
See you guys.

Thank you... it was nice and somewhat busy.
I haven't worked with polarhome issues for ages and the problems just piled up.
I used these days to sort out some important issues and improve the stability.

One of the main changes is the forum revelation :)
Main changes:
- disabled PHP register_globals on the whole web site - that made lot of troubles elsewhere like around account creation.
- disable user registration in the forum
- inject polarhome users into the forum with right rights - if requested during account creation
- moderate first several posts of the new users before they can post freely
- use anti-spam apc

Before I shut down the forum I spent half of the day moderating it.
This should provide us more free time . :)

Enjoy.
Regards,
Z

I had the woeful task of moderating a forum once. Half the battle was dealing with all the spam bots. The owner wanted registration to be open, yet wanted to keep her hands off most of the time. I guess the idea of community and contribution is nice, but everyone is looking for avenues to push their goods. There are anti-spam plugins for phpBB out there but nothing beats good old fashioned vigilance which nobody really has time for :)
